Measuring
How your client's measurements reach our cutting table
You measure your client in your shop. You enter the figures on our online ordering platform. We cut from them.
The platform
One form for every order
Every order goes through our online ordering platform. You or your staff can use it in five languages. Each order carries the client's measurements, the cloth, the construction and your label.
The form has 47 measurement fields. 31 of them are required. An order does not go to the cutting table without them. Fill in the rest whenever you can. The more the form says about your client, the less the cutter has to guess.
Starting without a tape
Height and weight are enough to begin
A customer's height and weight are enough to start. The platform suggests sizes from them. You look over the suggestion, adjust what you know about your client, and confirm.
This helps when you sell to a client you cannot see in person, or when you want a first suit moving before a full fitting. For a client who will order again, take full measurements and keep them on file.
Good habits
Measuring for a first order
- Measure over a shirt. Do not measure over a jacket, and empty the pockets first.
- Let the client stand as he usually stands. Note a dropped shoulder, a forward neck or a fuller seat in plain words.
- Have the same person measure each time, so the figures stay comparable from order to order.
- Keep the first order simple: one suit, one cloth you know, and a construction you sell often.
- When the suit arrives, fit it on the client and write down what you would change. Send those notes with the next order.
The minimum order is one piece, so the first suit can be a fit test for one client.
